POS Changing RAM & Storage

Modified on Mon, 22 Jul at 2:32 PM

1. To gain access to the RAM & storage of your POS terminal, you will have to remove these 4 screws on the back of your terminal's main screen as shown below. Before proceeding, please make sure that the power has been disconnected.

2. Once the 4 screws are removed, you will need a tool to pry open the screen using the the access notches on the bottom side of the screen.

 3. Once you've pried the screen open slightly, you can slide a card or an opening pick around the left, right and bottom corners of the screen. Once all the tabs have been separated, you can slightly lift the lower end of the screen, and pull down to take the screen off. When opening, be careful not to pull off any cables. You can rest the screen on the lower corner of the chassis as you cant leave it to the side without removing cables.

4. From here, you have clear access of the RAM and storage SSD.

A) When removing the memory, first unscrew the bottom left screw before removing the storage. Once removed, the SSD chip will pop up, to which you can pull the SSD straight out in the direction that it is facing. When replacing the SSD, insert the new SSD at or around the same angle as you had removing the original and screw the holding screw back in.

B) When removing the ram, there are 2 clips on both sides of the ram. When extracting, pull both tabs to the side and the ram will pop upwards. Be sure to gently pull the ram out in the direction that its facing. When inserting the new RAM, insert it at the same angle you had pulled the previous ram stick out from. Once inserted, you can softly press down until you hear the tabs click into place.

5. Once you have upgraded or changed out the component, you can slide the screen back into place. Be sure that the screen properly inserts into the slots on the top of the chassis, otherwise the components can be damaged in the case that it was not installed properly. Once the screen is on, apply pressure along the edge of the screen and make sure that you hear all the clips click back into place.

6. After the screen is properly placed back on, screw the main screen's screws back into place
