What you are experiencing can occur when the magnetic stripe on the card is worn or of lower quality. In some cases, the MSR may partially or incorrectly decode a swipe, and that data can briefly carry over to the next swipe attempt.
We recommend waiting a few seconds between swipes and then swiping the card again at a steady, consistent speed. The MSR is not designed for very fast or continuous swiping, and allowing a short pause between attempts helps ensure the data is read and cleared properly.
