Factory Reset Windows 11 Using Local Reinstall

 Before You Begin:

  • Backup important files. This process may erase everything.

  • Make sure your terminal is plugged in.

Steps:

  1. Open Settings

    • Press Windows + I to open Settings.

  2. Go to Recovery Options

    • Navigate to:
      SystemRecovery

  3. Start Reset Process

    • Under Recovery options, find Reset this PC.

    • Click “Reset PC”.

  4. Choose Reset Option

    • In the pop-up window, choose one:

      • Keep my files (removes apps/settings, keeps personal files)

      • Remove everything (full factory reset)

  5. Choose Reinstall Method

    • Select Local reinstall (uses files from your device)

      • Do not choose Cloud download

  6. Review Settings

    • On the summary screen, click Change settings if needed:

      • Confirm Local reinstall

      • Enable Clean data or Delete files from all drives (if needed)

  7. Start Reset

    • Click Next, then Reset.

    • Your PC will restart and begin the reset process.


 After Reset:

  • The process can take 30–60+ minutes depending on options chosen.

  • After the reset, Windows 11 will boot up and guide you through the initial setup.
